The Program for Intensive English (PIE) at Indiana University Indianapolis offers 6 sessions per year. Sessions begin in January, March, May, June, August, or October. Students can start at the beginning of any session. Please see our 2026 Academic Calendar below:

No. Students must plan to start at the beginning of one of our sessions. All new students are required to attend the new student orientation. It is very important.
Students are NOT permitted to arrive late or miss the required new student orientation. If you cannot arrive or start studying on the first day of orientation, you will need to defer to a later session.
All students should apply to the Program for Intensive English as early as possible, to allow themselves enough time to prepare for the course.
New initial F-1 applications will close approximately 2-3 months before the start date. We may recommend deferring your application to a later session if we suspect there is a long wait time in your home country for visa interviews.
All other applications (including F-1 transfer applications) will close approximately 1.5 weeks before the start date.
